Even the inane comments can be responded to, as an attempt to elevate the discussion, teach, enlighten?, problem-solve or even resolve conflicts.  Even if you don't upload videos but just comment, it is a very useful platform and possibly underrated.  (Even the habit of commenting, anywhere, is useful, as a writing-thinking exercise, to improve one's writing, learn about social engagement and conversation (and many other things)).  I suppose you could make a list of over 250 benefits of YouTube and social media in general.
