HISTORY

Out-Smarts was founded by Mhairi Petrovic in 2002 with the mission to help small and medium organizations reach their full potential on the Internet. Since then, we have offered professional and affordable solutions to businesses we now call, happy clients.

Out-Smarts is located in Vancouver, British Columbia, amidst the fastest growing technology sector in Canada. We provide services to clients in Canada, the UK and the United States.

PEOPLE

Mhairi (va-ri) Petrovic

Mhairi is the Chief Marketing Officer and Founder of Out-Smarts Marketing and is dedicated to working with clients to develop and implement marketing strategies that maximise on-line exposure.

Since graduating with Honours in Commerce in 1990 from Napier University in Scotland, Mhairi has developed and in depth knowledge of sales and marketing functions through her employment on both sides of the Atlantic with some of the best known companies in the world including Coca Cola, Unisys and MicroStrategy.

Prior to founding Out-Smarts in 2002 Mhairi focused on software and Internet technologies in various sales and marketing roles for nearly a decade, successfully selling large ($1M+US) deals into Fortune 500 clients such as Nike and the Bank of Montreal, and establishing remote offices in virgin territories. She achieved a number of awards for exceeding targeted expectations.

Passionate about social media and Internet marketing, Mhairi blogs regularly and puts her knowledge of the Internet to good use to network and grow businesses in creative and leading edge ways.

She achieved a Marketing Executive Certification in 2005, Sales Professional Certification (with distinction) in 2003 and recently augmented her Bachelor of Commerce Degree with a Diploma in Sales and Marketing Management from the University of British Columbia.

Jose Uzcategui

Jose can be described as a unique mix of skill, culture,  passion and search engine optimization enthusiasm. His background in marketing, writing, and web usability combined with a taste for technology have given him an exceptional set of skills for Internet Marketing.

Jose started experimenting with Internet marketing and SEO as a teenager developing a small website and a few ads for his family business. Since then, he has worked for companies like Simon Fraser University and IMAG Technologies developing online marketing initiatives and optimizing website content and usability.

In addition to his Communications Degree from Simon Fraser University, Jose has completed an Advanced SEO Certificate from the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization SEMPO, a Google Analytics Individual Qualification Certification, and other technical writing courses also from SFU.

Jose is a member of SEMPO, the Vancouver Board of Trade and is the organizer for the Vancouver SEO Meetup Group.

For those of you who are wondering, yes, Jose speaks Spanish. He can also speak Japanese, which he learned after living three years in Japan.
